In Dora, AL, resides a couple who are about to embark on one of the most beautiful journeys life has to offer—parenthood. Tia and D’Angelo, expecting their first baby, recently visited my studio in Alabaster, AL for a maternity photoshoot that turned into an artistic experience like no other. This photoshoot, inspired by Tia’s love for fine art, has become a gallery I am immensely proud of even after six years in the maternity photography business.
From our initial consultation, it was clear that Tia had a vision for her maternity photos. She came prepared with a Pinterest mood board that beautifully captured her desire for a fine art aesthetic. Her choices resonated deeply with me, as fine art maternity photography not only feeds my soul but also allows me to create timeless pieces that celebrate the beauty of motherhood.
The mood board Tia curated provided perfect inspiration for our photoshoot. Our goal was to encapsulate the delicate beauty of Tia’s pregnancy while also crafting images that could stand as works of art on their own. To achieve this, we collaborated with some amazing vendors to bring our vision to life.
For this setup, we chose a physical backdrop from Shades of Drops. This vendor is renowned for their exquisite backdrop designs that perfectly complement the fine art style. The backdrop we selected featured soft, muted tones that added a layer of sophistication to the images.
We used Savage seamless paper for other setups, which provided a clean and versatile base for the shoot. To add a unique touch to these images, I edited in a digital texture from the Shades of Drops digital collection. This combination of physical and digital elements allowed us to create a cohesive yet varied gallery that captured the essence of Tia’s vision.
On the day of the shoot, Tia and D’Angelo arrived with some much excitement and anticipation. Tia’s radiance was undeniable, and D’Angelo’s supportive presence added a heartwarming dynamic to the session. We started with some classic poses, highlighting Tia’s beautiful baby bump and the love between the couple. The soft lighting and carefully chosen backdrops created an atmosphere of tranquility, allowing Tia and D’Angelo to relax and enjoy the moment.
As the session progressed, we experimented with different poses and angles, drawing inspiration from the mood board while also allowing for spontaneous, candid moments. One of my favorite shots from the session features Tia in a delicate, flowing gown, standing against the Shades of Drops backdrop. The ethereal quality of the image is enhanced by the subtle texture added during post-processing, creating a piece that is both timeless and captivating.
Looking back at the final gallery, I am filled with a deep sense of pride and fulfillment. The images we created together are not just photographs; they are pieces of art that celebrate the beauty of motherhood and the love between Tia and D’Angelo. This photoshoot has reminded me why I am so passionate about fine art maternity photography—it allows me to create something truly special and meaningful.
I am incredibly grateful to Tia and D’Angelo for trusting me with such an important moment in their lives. Their joy and love were the perfect ingredients for a successful photoshoot, and I am honored to have been a part of their journey. As they prepare to welcome their first baby, I hope these images serve as a cherished reminder of this beautiful chapter in their lives.
To Tia and D’Angelo, thank you for allowing me to capture these precious memories. Your gallery will always hold a special place in my heart.
