Maternity outdoors session can be some of the most beautiful light you can find. The Rascon family contacted me on Facebook wanting to capture this special time in their little family’s life. They already had one beautiful little girl and were expecting a boy in a couple months.
Joanna was so excited for her upcoming session. She decided to wear her own dress instead of choosing one from my client closet. We set the session for golden hour on a cold winter day. Although it was pretty chilly, we found the most beautiful light. She looked absolutely gorgeous with her flower crown and her daughter matched, like two princesses awaiting the ball.
Mr. Rascon was so willing to make these memories happen for his growing family. He looked dashing with his princesses. I can only imagine how excited he was to be expecting a son in only a couple months.
While we had some fun with the whole family, we wanted to get poses of the expecting couple alone. These lovebirds sure did a great job taking direction from me for their maternity outdoors session. Luckily, there was a nearby playground for their sweet little girl to play on while we did these poses.
While I absolutely LOVE capturing connection, maternity sessions include solo poses. The expectant mom is such a beautiful miracle. Unfortunately, many pregnant mamas don’t feel beautiful because of all the things that come along with pregnancy. However, having been there and being on the other side, the pregnant body NEEDS to be captured. You will look back and say “Yes! I did that.” and “Wow, my body grew and nurtured my sweet baby. How is that even possible?!?” You can find more from this gallery here.

I am married to the love of my life who has recently retired from the Army. We are back “home” after being away for 21 years. We have 3 young boys and 1 daughter who is pursuing her college career. As a photographer, I specialize in the newborns and maternity portraits. I just love the amazing process of pregnancy and then having that sweet, new bundle of joy to love. Capturing all that is so important and I feel so blessed to be a part of this special time in my client’s lives.
