Mini sessions are the number 1 requested session I receive. Many people ask for a mini session because, to them, it’s cheaper. However, for many photographers, it is a session for a very limited time and often booked back to back. Just because they are “mini” doesn’t always mean they are discounted.
Many clients do not realize all the work going on behind the scenes. About 80% of being a photographer is business related, and only 20% actually behind the camera. That means that even though your session was a shorter time slot, I’m still doing the same amount of work behind the scenes. So I can’t profit from offering mini sessions UNLESS I can fill the day with short sessions. By short sessions, I mean 15 minutes or less. The only way to do that is to make sure everything is consistent, no late arrivals, and scheduling sessions back to back.
The good news is that I actually do offer mini sessions! Yay, right? My mini sessions are always themed for a particular season. For instance, Christmas is a really popular theme. I will often do summer themed sessions, easter sessions, and fall sessions. Each themed mini is booked with multiple clients in a single day. Once a single day is filled, I will often open another day to book for those still interested.

I am married to the love of my life who has recently retired from the Army. We are back “home” after being away for 21 years. We have 3 young boys and 1 daughter who is pursuing her college career. As a photographer, I specialize in the newborns and maternity portraits. I just love the amazing process of pregnancy and then having that sweet, new bundle of joy to love. Capturing all that is so important and I feel so blessed to be a part of this special time in my client’s lives.
