Newborn pictures with parents are some of the most cherished pictures of your new arrival. Many parents are reluctant to get in the picture because they don’t feel like they look their best right after having a baby. There are techniques that I can do as your photographer to really help slim parents and not accentuate the areas you are worried about.
Camera angles can help parents appear slimmer. Camera angles can also make someone look larger than they actually are. Professional photographers know this and will use the camera angle that makes you look your best.
Posing is another way to slim parents. Newborn pictures with parents are so important to capture for these precious present moments. Posing can reduce your belly, hips, and chin/neck area. All the things we worry about as women, right?
Often times, I will capture parents with their newborn from just above bellies and up. This completely resolves any issue you might have after carrying and growing a baby for 9 months. Most moms still have some swelling in their belly and they do not want it in the photograph at all.
Parent posing is usually done at the beginning of the session. That way hair and makeup are still fresh! If dad or siblings need to leave, they can do so while I pose and capture the baby.

I am married to the love of my life who has recently retired from the Army. We are back “home” after being away for 21 years. We have 3 young boys and 1 daughter who is pursuing her college career. As a photographer, I specialize in the newborns and maternity portraits. I just love the amazing process of pregnancy and then having that sweet, new bundle of joy to love. Capturing all that is so important and I feel so blessed to be a part of this special time in my client’s lives.
