Photoshoot preparation checklist can be different for every photography business. It just depends on their business model. We work in a boutique style, meaning every detail of your session is personalized to your family.
Your photoshoot preparation checklist is more than just a to-do list—it’s what helps your session flow smoothly and keeps your little one happy. When everyone arrives calm and prepared, you’ll be free to enjoy the moment and focus on what really matters: creating lasting memories.
When you book with us, you are in for a treat. We are a full service photography studio, which means that we will walk you through the process of your portrait experience from start to finish. We want these images to reflect who you are and tell your story, so we want to meet with you before your session. We will plan every single detail with the end in mind so you can rest assured you will love the result. After your initial consultation, these are the four steps to a wonderful fine art portrait experience with us.
We’ve done the preparation for you, so your photoshoot preparation checklist is simple and stress-free.
TELLING YOUR STORY. You will meet with us to go over style, home decor, wardrobe options, questions, wants and wishes for your session. We want your images to be unique to you, so we will personalize your session just for you. We will also talk about how you envision enjoying your portraits and your different printing options.
Pack a small bag with essentials for the baby: extra outfits, diapers, wipes, and a favorite blanket or pacifier. For parents, consider water, light snacks, and a touch-up makeup bag. Having these items ready means fewer interruptions and more time capturing beautiful portraits.
Choosing comfortable clothing makes a world of difference. Moms may appreciate bringing a change of clothes, especially if your session includes snuggles with baby. Dads should wear layers that can be adjusted easily, helping everyone stay relaxed throughout the session.
CREATING MEMORIES. The day of your session is where the magic happens. Our home studio is equipped with everything you can possibly need, from drinks and snacks to a changing table stocked with diapers. We even have fresh pastries in case you forgot to eat before coming to the studio. You can sit back in our comfy recliner, grab some coffee or tea, and relax knowing that your baby is in good hands. You will watch as Misty tenderly poses your baby in sets that will make your heart skip a beat.
If siblings are included, preparation can help them feel special too. Bring a favorite toy or book for breaks, and let them know they’ll have their own “spotlight moment” during the session. Happy siblings mean genuine smiles and easier family portraits.
MAKING DECISIONS. This is the most exciting part of the experience since you’ll see your new gorgeous portraits in 5×7 professional proofs and behind the scenes video with music from your session. You’ll meet with us one more time and you’ll choose your favorite images. We’ll help you select the best ones for your gallery and will make suggestions for art pieces according to what we previously discussed at the Design Consultation.
FINISHED ARTWORK. A few weeks later, your images will be ready for you to pick up at the studio. Expect to be blown away by the feel of your printed art pieces in your hands. Seeing your loved ones in professionally crafted finishes will make you feel something that no digital screen will ever do!

I am married to the love of my life who has recently retired from the Army. We are back “home” after being away for 21 years. We have 3 young boys and 1 daughter who is pursuing her college career. As a photographer, I specialize in the newborns and maternity portraits. I just love the amazing process of pregnancy and then having that sweet, new bundle of joy to love. Capturing all that is so important and I feel so blessed to be a part of this special time in my client’s lives.
